In this episode of Columbia Omni Live, Mitch Cole interviews Libby Chisholm Fearnley, Writer, Educator and Advocate for Change in the Fashion & Textile Industry.

After a decade as a mainstream fashion designer, Libby left the industry in 2009 after becoming a parent. She earned a certificate at night in FIT's Sustainable Design Entrepreneurs program and then began researching and writing a book on fashion and sustainability. The book-writing process was infuriating: the pace of change was too fast to keep up. She thought, "How can fashion industry professionals possibly make time for sustainability if keeping up is a full-time job?”

The current events course she teaches at FIT was designed to consolidate important solutions and news into 12 hours. In addition to teaching, Libby is a Content Manager and Consulting Sustainability Educator for sustainable and mainstream brands. Libby’s goal is to create a ripple effect of positive change: the fashion industry can and must transcend the superficial.
